The preface was a very brief summary of what's to come in the textbook. It was a very brief reading assignment and covered no actual material. That being said, it was very readable (probably because it did not introduce any new material) and I'll give it a 9/10. The one sentence that struck me while reading this chapter was the notion that “algorithms are a powerful lens through which to view the field of computer science in general.
