My interest in this paper is a 6. I feel like prototyping is a big step because it organizes the functionality of a product without the implementation. It forces the designers to work backward from the result.

The three main ideas of this paper are that the language used to talk about prototypes must not rely on the prototype itself, a more in-depth look at a prototype in respect to the actual product makes it easier to discuss within the design team (including users) and their supporting organizations, and the model must help to determine the implementation, look and feel, and role of a product.

This paper relates to our class because it is about modeling the product before it is put on the market. This is important because it shows the importance of using different models to illustrate the three issues of look and feel, implementation, and the role, while abstracting the tools used to create the prototype itself.

I really appreciate all the examples they gave, but I feel like the look and feel prototypes are only giving the feel. Since the look is not the same in the implementation can't that be misleading sometimes?

My interest in this paper is an 8. Finally some examples! It was nice to see actual application on the conceptual designs they discuss. It made the paper more relevant and easier to understand.

The three main ideas of this paper were 1)Currently, the way we think of prototypes is too narrow 2) We need to change the way we think about prototypes focusing on implementation, look and feel, and its role and 3) If focus thinking in these areas, prototypes will be more effective for actual design.

This paper relates to our class in that it shows how to effectively plan a good design. Although we were not supposed to read those user articles until later, this paper made the ideas in those more obvious. Especially for “Contextual Design.” I can see how planning design can be effective through this paper's examples.

My discussion question is that I understand how having three separate prototypes could benefit in the design process as each has a specific focus, but couldn't there also be cases where this hinders the process as different opinions are given on each?
